Gumpert Apollo Sport Sets Nurburgring Production Lap Record!
This feat was accomplished with the help of Gumpert's 700hp Audi turbo V-8 and one skilled driver (Florian Gruber). The Apollo sport has not officially been released, but with a lap time of 7:11.57 and a top speed of 224 mph we imagine they won't have a hard time finding buyers..

"2010 Porsche 911
GT3 RS: Track-Ready, Street Legal and More Power."
Slotting just under
the new 911 Turbo, Porsche's new track-ready yet street-legal 911 GT3 RS gets
an added 15 HP over the non-RS GT3, bringing power up to 450 HP thanks to the
larger 3.8-liter flat-six.

"Porsche
Unveils it’s first Sedan”
Anyone
thinking Porsche’s new Panamera will be the fastest four-door ever engineered
will need to re-calibrate his expectations. Sure, the top-of-the-range Turbo
version sports 500 horsepower, but that number is bested not only by Mercedes’
AMG CLS63 and the more expensive AMG S65 but also the much more modestly priced
supercharged Cadillac CTS-V. While an argument can be made that the Panamera is
faster around a sinewy race track than either of the two Mercedes, the Cadillac
will most assuredly race around the famed Nürburgring quicker than the
Panamera.
What
the Panamera brings to the table is intangibles, those attributes that neither
dynamometer nor stopwatch can measure. It’s that indefinable quality that sees
the suspension, steering and powertrain work as a cohesive unit.
Not
that the Panamera isn’t fast. Outfitted with its PDK seven-speed double-clutch
transmission as well as the optional launch control system, the Panamera Turbo
will launch its 1,970 kilograms to 100 kilometres an hour in just four seconds.
Even the base Panamera S gets there in a scant 5.4 seconds, thanks to its
400-horsepower variant of Porsche’s naturally aspirated, DOHC V8; the
all-wheel-drive 4S accomplishes the same task in but five seconds. Read More

VOLKSWAGEN
RERELEASES THE SCIROCCO
Volkswagen unveiled
the 265-horsepower Scirocco R to the public. The Scirocco shares its 265-horsepower/350 Nm
(258 lb-ft) 2.0L turbo four with the Audi S3, but unlike the latter, the VW is
a front wheel-driver. Drivers pick gears via either a 6-speed stick or DSG, and
the VW Scirocco R gets the XDS electronic differential featured in the new GTI.
On the tarmac, the Scirocco R makes the run from zero to 62 mph (100 km/h) in
6.5 seconds with the manual gearbox. (Shave off another tenth with the DSG.)
Outside, the bodywork apes that of the Scirocco GT24 racer, five of which will
be competing in the 24-hour enduro at the Nordschleife. A meaner face, larger
roof spoiler, dual exhaust outlets, 18-inch "Talladega" wheels, and
the requisite badging visually separate the Scirocco R from its more
sedate-looking siblings.
The first official week of summer
is here and the “Race to the Chase” heats up heading into Sunday’s NASCAR
Sprint Cup Series LENOX Industrial Tools 301 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.
This weekend’s race at the 1.058-mile track marks the first of a 10-race summer
stretch that will help decide the 12 drivers who will battle for the
championship starting in September.
Tony Stewart leads the Sprint Cup Series standings going into Loudon. Stewart,
who was 11th in the standings at this juncture last year, leads Jeff Gordon by
84 markers and holds a 447-point lead over 12th-place Juan Pablo Montoya. In
2008, during this time, the gap from first to 12th was 516 points, with leader
Kyle Busch holding a 103-point advantage over second-place Jeff Burton. Read more
A favorite destination of all buyers attending the SEMA Show, the
Racing & Performance section is located in the Central Hall of the Las
Vegas Convention Center. Just about every one of the 50,000 to 60,000 buyers
that walks through the doors of the Show expressed interest in racing or
performance products when they pre-registered in 2008. The top product interest
for all 2008 pre-registered buyers was, in fact, performance accessories.
At the 2008 SEMA Show, approximately 300
exhibitors indicated that they manufacture racing/performance products. More
than 9,400 attendees expressed interest in racing/performance products and more
than 18,500 attendees swiped badges at racing/performance exhibitor booths. Read more
F1: Ferrari Claims FOTA Victory
Ferrari on Wednesday June 24, 2009 claimed victory in F1's political battle on
behalf of the FOTA alliance.
Although Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo was
more magnanimous in Paris, while the departing Max Mosley insisted there were
no losers, a document distributed shortly afterwards by the Italian team
claimed a clear outcome.
Ferrari said the 2010 season will be "a
championship ... which will held, as required by FOTA, in the spirit of sport
and technological competition, with clear and certain rules and a transparent
governance". Read more
